In 2019, Malaysia’s franchise industry grew 18% to hit USD 3.1 billion. However, this industry has not been spared by the Covid-19 pandemic.
To cope with the heath crisis, Malaysia’s Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (MDTCA) formulated the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) for 2021-2025. 12MP included strategies to boost the growth of the country’s franchise industry and increase the value of franchise sales to USD 5.8 billion by 2025.
